Crocheting in Rounds

Dear users and authors,
do you have any tips on crocheting in rounds?

Be sure to mark the start of each round—otherwise, you’re guaranteed to lose count!

When crocheting in spiral rounds, mark the beginning. Either insert a strand of yarn and carry it along until the end, or use a stitch marker.

If the pattern calls for increasing every 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. stitch, turn the work after each round.
Otherwise, you’ll end up with a hexagon instead of a circle.

If you space out the increases irregularly in each round—that is, not every 6th, 7th, etc., but in between—it turns out nice and round.

I once found a great chart on a German craft website. It’s just brilliant. I use it regularly for circles, balls, and the like.

If you’re crocheting with multiple colors, I’d always end each round with 1 sl st and 1 ch—that way it turns out nice and even and not “staggered.”

When increasing, stagger the stitches (as previous posters have mentioned), and it’ll come out round.
That’s how I always do it, anyway.
