Washing / Cleaning Amigurumi

Dear users, dear authors,
Can you wash amigurumi, or is that not a good idea because of the stuffing?

It depends. I use either old T-shirts or “Zauberwatte”—both are fully washable.
Old teddy bears usually have wood wool stuffing, which can’t be washed, so I sometimes brush the fur with foam from wool detergent.

It really depends. I crochet mine out of cotton, including safety eyes, and make sure that all the parts that were crocheted separately are sewn on securely. For the stuffing, I actually only use “pre-packaged” stuffing, which is washable. Once my “little creatures” have come off the hook, they get to go for a spin on the “carousel”—in other words, they go through the washing machine once.
To freshen up crocheted items that can’t go in the machine—such as those decorated with beads, door wreaths, and the like—dry shampoo is a good choice... 

I use vinegar water and a tissue or guest towel.
I soak it in the water, wring it out, drape it over the little creature, and pat it.
You’ll be surprised at what comes out.

I don’t put any of the little creatures directly into the washing machine. Why? Hmm, good question.
I’m also worried that the stuffing will clump together.
