I feel the same way—I’ve never heard of them either, and we actually took a clothing course during our training. What do they look like, and where are they supposed to be used? Please enlighten me, Josefa :-)
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuh, those things look awful—they’re really not for me. I can still tolerate trumpet sleeves; they’re a bit wider in the front, but this?....In my opinion, it’s just unnecessary fluttering around the arms and a potential accident hazard, because you’re constantly getting them caught on something and knocking half the table or cabinet over.
Thanks for the pictures! So what’s meant here is a very wide trumpet sleeve.
All the designs are by Craftery, and she apparently came up with the term herself. So the sleeves are circular, like a mini version of a circle skirt.
I wouldn’t knit something like that. It uses a lot of yarn and gets very heavy. Unsuitable for things meant to keep you warm, because they leave your wrists cold—and when my wrists are cold, I can’t use my hands properly. And they’re impractical for long sleeves, e.g., when washing hands or doing housework.
To come back to the comparison with a skirt: I’d much rather knit “pencil sleeves.”
Oh, I love that fluttery look on the sleeves! 🤩
I’m currently working on a crocheted summer coat, and as it happens, it has bell sleeves...
Is it okay to show things here that haven’t been published yet, just as a sneak peek?
Hi Sina, circle sleeves are very wide and round, just like a circle skirt.
And pencil sleeves are, just like a pencil skirt, tight. If the term “pencil skirt” doesn’t ring a bell, you can find plenty of pictures of them on search engines. It’s simply a tight, narrow-cut skirt.
