Crocheting around the chain stitch

Is it Sunday, or can someone help me? So: 4 ch to form a ring. Then 4 ch, 3 tr in the ring, 2 ch, 3 tr, 1 ch, 1 tr. Then 4 ch and 2 tr around the ch. Okay, and what does “around the ch” mean? Do I have to skip a stitch afterward? I don’t think today is my day—I’m totally out of it, but I’m sure it’s really simple 🙈

Around the chain stitch = you don’t insert the hook into it, but rather “wrap” the relevant stitches around it.
That means: when you pick up the yarn for the double crochet the first time, you do so in a way that it lies under the chain stitch.

I hope it’s somewhat clear what I’m trying to say.

"Around the chain stitches" means that you don’t insert the hook into the stitch itself, but rather into the inside of the loop. Then you bring the first working yarn all the way around the entire chain stitch.

Insert the hook into the ring from the top and bring the yarn up through the bottom of the ring, where you then crochet your stitch as if you had inserted the hook into a stitch.
