Off we go to the puppet theater!
With hand-crocheted hand puppets, it becomes a very special experience! You can design homemade Kasperl characters exactly the way you imagine them. Use leftover yarn you already have and let it inspire you!
My Kasperl characters are designed for small hands so children can play with them easily. If you want to make them for larger hands, all you need to do is simply crochet a few more stitches in width and possibly a few more rows at the beginning. The increases and decreases do not change.
Here I show you 3 characters you can use to put on a little play:
The policeman is completely desperate: A thief is in town, sneaking around at night and clearing out the residents’ pantries. He has tried everything, but he hasn’t been able to catch the thief.
So he turns to
Kasperl, who always has such good ideas. Kasperl immediately notices that only food is being stolen. So he deduces with razor-sharp logic that the thief must be hungry. He lies in wait at night, holding a thick Leberkäse roll in his hand as bait.
Sure enough, something moves.Kasperl can’t believe his eyes:

A
greedy crocodile has crept up and eaten the Leberkäse roll right out of his hand. But it still hasn’t had enough and wants to eat Kasperl too.
But Kasperl isn’t afraid and tells it that he doesn’t taste good at all and would only sit heavy in the poor crocodile’s stomach. He asks it why it always steals food at night. It could just ask someone to give it something when it is hungry.
And then the crocodile starts to cry.Because everyone is afraid of it and that’s why everyone runs away from it, Kasperl promises it that from now on it may live in his garden and will always get some of Grandmother’s cakes. Then the crocodile howls even louder tears of joy, and they happily set off...
