Dear users and authors,
how are you doing right now? Do you have time for crafts? How’s the weather where you are? Are you in any of the areas affected by severe weather?
I wish you all a pleasant Whit Monday. 

Here in Main-Franconia, we’re enjoying the most beautiful spring weather you can imagine. Thunderstorms and terrible weather were forecast, but as is so often the case, they passed us by. We’re protected by our location in the Main Valley, surrounded by the Steigerwald to the south, the Hassberge to the east, the Rhön to the north, and the foothills of the Spessart to the west. That’s why a lot of storms take a detour, and thank God we’re spared. What does become dangerous for us, though, are the storms that use the Main River as a highway—which happens time and again—and that’s when we feel the full force of nature.

Josefa, here in MD we’re having the best summer weather. We’re hoping for rain every day. It would be great if it were spread out more evenly.

It’s not nice to see what’s going on in the areas hit by severe weather.
Terrible, just absolutely awful.
Many of my friends have been affected. And you feel so helpless.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed for them

It’s sunny in Cologne, too, but rain is forecast again for tomorrow, along with a severe weather warning—just like we’ve had for days now. We’re getting plenty of it here—the rain, that is—which is great for nature, and fortunately, we’ve been spared more dramatic events so far.
Ever since the Ahr disaster, it seems like every weather service feels the need to issue a severe weather warning before every rain shower. I doubt that’s very helpful, because after the 25th time a warning turns out to be a false alarm, people eventually become desensitized and stop paying attention.

So yesterday afternoon (I was at work), it was pouring rain—dark as if the world were ending, with thunder and lightning. Later, it cleared up as if nothing had happened. The air is pleasant—not as warm or dusty anymore.

This morning it was cloudy with dark clouds, but they cleared up quickly. Now it’s such beautiful sunny weather that it’s almost too hot to stay on the balcony.
But my laundry is drying well.

And best of all… I’m on v a c a t i o n now

We’re currently experiencing what’s known as “changeable weather.” Yesterday we were spared the rain, but on Saturday evening the heavens opened up for a moment—only to make it up to us with a fantastic rainbow afterward. Today it’s pretty sunny, but with quite a few clouds, and the weather is supposed to take a turn again tonight…

Right now, the sky is completely clear—you can see an almost full moon.
