Sewing a small pouch

When we go for a walk, I always like to have my cell phone with me for taking pictures, tissues of course, my glasses, and some money for unexpected ice cream cravings.

I’ve wanted to sew a zippered pillow for a long time, and I wanted to practice sewing in a zipper by making a small pouch in the size I wanted. 





It was sewn in really quickly and easily



Who would’ve thought? The rest was very easy—I’d already had some practice with that. 



I appliquéd a Mickey Mouse on the front



On the back, I added a small pocket for the bag used to collect the tortoises’ food.



I sewed a strap from a pant leg, and just like that, it was done.

What can I say—as a passionate collector, I had all the supplies I needed right at home, and it took less than two hours to sew.

I’m happy and super proud of my first sewn-in zipper.

Great job, Petra! I always get nervous about sewing in zippers, too. Depending on the fabric (stretchy or not, slippery or not), I have more or less success with it. It’s great that you nailed it perfectly right away with the denim. The little bag looks great. You can proudly go for walks with it.

This is a little bag I made in my first sewing class. It’s not perfect, but I thought it was really cute.

One with a lining—I still need to learn that too.

@ Petra: This is basically the same as your little bag. The only difference is that you have the different layers before it is sewn all the way around.
