Wool needle / darning needle

Dear users, dear authors,
are wool needles / darning needles blunt? What can these needles be used for?

They also usually have a larger eye so that wool threads can fit through. This makes them great for weaving in ends in knitted and crocheted pieces.

I embroider my little pictures with a blunt needle. If it had a sharp point, I’m sure my fingertips would soon be all pricked up. 

The blunt tip is designed to protect the fabric or wool from being pierced.

I use the blunt needles to sew my amigurumi together.

I also use them for embroidering Christmas basket covers and tapestry pictures.

The blunt needles are great for that.

For darning socks and similar items, the needle should have a slightly pointed tip—but not as sharp as a sewing needle.
