Crochet Hook Size for Beginners / Suitable for Beginners

what crochet hook size would you recommend for beginners? Which yarn is suitable for beginners?

I would recommend 3–4 mm, as it’s neither too thin nor too thick.

However, this also depends on personal preference.

Maybe a size 4 or 5. And it should match the yarn. I recommend a fairly light-colored, smooth cotton yarn. The light color and smooth texture make it easier to see the crocheted stitches. You’ll also notice more quickly if you’ve skipped a stitch or if something’s wrong with the stitch.

The handle of your first crochet hook should also feel comfortable in your hand. Beginners tend to tense up easily, and a plastic or metal handle can make it easy for your hand to slip.

Yes, I’d also say around a size 4 is best, and when it comes to yarn, make sure it’s well-twisted so that a strand doesn’t keep getting left behind—that’s frustrating.

I’d also say 3.5 or 4. And school yarn (i.e., thicker cotton yarn).
