Seasonal Crochet Projects: Ideas for Every Season

Dear users, dear authors,
Do you change your decorations to match the seasons, or adapt them for Christmas / Easter, etc.? I’ve read that in the threads here in the forum. But there is certainly also decoration that is independent of the seasons. How do you handle it? Do you need fresh new decoration ideas every year, or do you also like using the decorations from last year?

Generally speaking, I use my decorations for a very long time—years, in fact. Every now and then I add something new; sometimes things break, and some items are used on a rotating basis. That means I don’t put up all my Christmas or Easter decorations every year—just a portion of them—since I don’t want it to look too cluttered.
Having Halloween decorations is fairly new for me; we used to always be in the sunny south during that time of year. I don’t have that many yet, so I can definitely add a few more.
The neutral, year-round decorations have stayed the same for a long time, but I’m changing some of the summer decorations on the balcony again this year. The stones and seashells will stay the same, but I’m replacing the lantern garland I crocheted—the Catania yarn really suffers outdoors; it’s gotten pretty frayed.

I have a hard time parting with things. If I made them myself, it’s even harder. So my decorations just keep piling up.

Of course, I always prefer new things, but sometimes I rediscover old ones while tidying up. The boxes are well-stocked for Easter and Christmas, but not so much for Halloween, since our grandson often takes something with him. 

I often rearrange things. Something that’s been in the hallway for a while might end up on the dining table, then move to the living room, or even out onto the patio. That way, I have plenty of variety. And as Veronika wrote above, tablecloths or pillows that have been out on the patio in the sun for too long unfortunately lose their appeal very quickly.
