Crafting with a metallic look

Dear users, dear authors,
If you want to achieve a metallic look in your crafts, can you use effect yarn for that? For which projects do you think the metallic look works well? Or is it perhaps not your style at all?

Would anyone else like to add anything?

Lurex sweaters used to be all the rage, and we even used to crochet bikinis out of that glittery yarn. They weren’t exactly comfortable to wear 🤣, but you’ve got to suffer to look good....
I’m not a fan of a full metallic look, but I still think a silver or gold accent thread here and there is pretty nice.
