Do you have any tips and tricks for crocheting, knitting, and sewing sleeves?

you can’t just quickly sew a sleeve, there’s a bit more to it than a crochet hook or knitting needle plus yarn. You need the exact measurements, then it has to/should fit the piece you want to sew. Should it be short-sleeved or long-sleeved, should it have a cuff or a ribbed cuff, or just be turned up. Then there’s also the question of whether it should be in one piece or have a dividing seam. On this blouse I added a cuff and cut the sleeve apart, inserting a strip there as an eye-catcher; on the tunic, for example, the sleeve is cut in one with the side part of the tunic and at the top with the

shoulder section

these are just 2 examples when it comes to sleeves, because they are as varied as fashion itself

Many of you probably remember this from back in the day or still do it this way today: knitting a sleeve cap. This involves specific decreases so that the sleeve tapers toward the top. There are also decreases for the armhole on the front and back pieces. Later, the sleeve is sewn into the sleeve cap. This is supposed to ensure that the sleeve fits nicely and the whole piece looks good. My grandma always knitted that way.

However, I’m not a fan of seams in knitted garments, so I prefer the raglan cut. Here, the sleeve is handled in an elegant and practical way: no seams, and it fits well, too. I’d rather make my life a little easier here.

I feel the same way as Ina, which is why I also prefer raglan sleeves.

Before I knew about RVO, I used to start the sleeves at the shoulder cap and work my way down.
