If you’d like to take part in a St. Martin’s procession with your child, you’ll need a lantern. This one is especially suitable for a small child because its small size makes it very comfortable to carry.



The lantern is made of photo cardstock and translucent paper, measures approximately 22 x 18 cm, and is easy to make.

 
These crocheted lampions don’t just look great on the patio in summer; they can also be used as lanterns for a St. Martin’s parade. You can crochet them from colorful leftover yarn. For 1 lantern, you need about 60 g in total. An LED string light is attached inside, so the lantern shines nice and bright.




If you like things a little spooky for Halloween, you might put a Halloween lantern like this in your window. Here, an empty jam jar is crocheted around with black yarn. Since you only need about 30 g for one jar, you can also use leftover yarn for this. An LED light provides the illumination. (If you put a real candle inside, you need to remove the lid.) You can also give the lantern as a filled candy jar if you’re invited to a Halloween party.



And here’s another illuminated window decoration for Halloween: The bat string lights are worked around an LED string light, with the number of bats depending on the length of the string light. The little bats are very easy to crochet and look quite eerie with their glowing eyes.
