Especially with such small sizes, it’s super important that the item doesn’t turn out too big. So if you often have trouble with things not fitting right, you should consider doing a gauge swatch—especially if you’re making a gift.

And of course, the yarn should definitely be super cozy and soft.

Another thing to keep in mind: the leg shouldn’t be too short. Otherwise, sneakers would get trampled on almost immediately; longer ones last much longer, even if they slip down a bit.

And they should be stretchy. That means paying a little attention to the cuffs (as a customer, check the preview images of the pattern) and using the right yarn.

Yes, that’s right. Pure cotton, for example, isn’t stretchy. A blend with wool, on the other hand, is ☺️
