Carry-Along Yarn for a Crochet Top

Hi everyone,

I’d like to crochet a crop top (classic design: triangle cup in half double crochet with a band at the bottom).

However, I’m worried that wool alone might be too stretchy and that the top won’t provide the necessary support, especially around the bust.

Have any of you had this problem before? Have you used carry-along yarns or even a different type of yarn than wool?

I’d appreciate any tips :)

I’ve never crocheted a bikini top myself and took a look at the patterns to see what’s out there.

Have you browsed through them yet and maybe checked out the descriptions and comments here on CP? At a quick glance, I didn’t see anything mentioned about a carry-along yarn. Everyone used cotton. Maybe you have to crochet very tightly so it holds its shape.

Personally, I don’t think adding an extra strand of yarn will help. In my opinion, it’s just one more strand.

Use cotton yarn and crochet tightly, using single crochet (sc) or half double crochet (hdc). That’s what I’d try. Double crochet (dc) might be too big.

Anyway, fingers crossed that it turns out just the way you imagine it.
