Dear users, dear authors,
What can you crochet with single crochet stitches? Did you have trouble learning single crochet stitches? What are the typical difficulties and problems with single crochet stitches?

Single crochet stitches are suitable for anything that needs to be “firm,” such as pot holders. Amigurumi are crocheted exclusively with single crochet stitches so that they retain a stable shape and the stuffing doesn’t peek out through any holes. They aren’t as suitable for airy tops or shawls, since the crocheted piece becomes relatively stiff when made with single crochet stitches.
Personally, I think single crochet stitches are the easiest. They’re usually the first stitches you learn (after chain stitches). One difficulty for beginners is often recognizing the crocheted stitches—that is, knowing where to insert the hook, especially at the beginning and end of a row. It’s easy to forget to crochet a stitch there. And the only thing that helps is counting, counting, counting...

Hello,
Ruth has already explained it really well.
For me, single crochet stitches are the basic stitches you learn after chain stitches.
You can already crochet some pretty things with them, some of which are also useful.
My daughter recently crocheted a headband using single crochet stitches. She’s still a beginner, and at first she had trouble because she didn’t always insert the hook through two loops. But we fixed that quickly, and now, by skillfully joining the two ends of the crocheted strip, she’s created a pretty headband.
Now she wants to crochet wrist warmers. :-)

You can also crochet dishcloths, pot holders, coasters, crocheted hearts, makeup remover pads, small baskets, and much more using single crochet stitches.

I also think that after chain stitches, the single crochet stitch should be learned.

As mentioned above, it’s important to insert the hook through both loops. You also need to know where to place the first stitch after the turning chain and where to crochet the last stitch so that you get a nice straight edge and the work doesn’t shift to the left or right.

Next comes crocheting single crochet stitches into the back loop only, or into the front loop only. How does my stitch pattern change?

Also important for further crocheting: how does my work change if I use a larger or smaller hook?

In my opinion, the single crochet stitch is best suited for this.
