What material is used for quick-knit yarn, and does it actually work?

I haven’t worked with it myself yet, but I think that because of the needle size, projects get knitted or crocheted faster.

As far as I know, that’s just a marketing buzzword. The projects are knitted with thick yarn, and you make quick progress.
There are great projects for this—they really stand out. It looks chic; I like it.

For most projects, I use thin yarn—I’m not in such a hurry. Thin yarn doesn’t weigh much either.

Quick-knit yarn is usually thicker acrylic yarn sold in large skeins (400g). Because you use thicker needles, it knits up quickly, and with the large quantity you can knit continuously without having to change skeins. It’s certainly quite suitable for beginners.
Personally, I don’t like it for clothing, since I don’t like acrylic against my skin and it always makes me statically charged when I wear it.
