Dear users, dear authors,
What do you do with old jeans?

So far, I’ve turned them into bags—mostly tote bags. The waistband becomes the bag body, the legs become the straps, and I’ve lined some of them with contrasting fabric on the inside. I still have one left—I’ll take a picture of it right now.

Oh, I usually sew bags out of them—all kinds of styles, from college-style bags to yarn cake bags and even a bag for my walker

Old jeans offer sooo many great opportunities for creative sewing.
Here, for example, I sewed some reading pillows out of them.

I once again made a gift bag / storage bag from old jeans

The bag itself used to be a tablecloth; the moose was appliquéd from various pieces of jeans. 

Great bag.

Great idea 

....I can’t sew, and I just couldn’t bring myself to “just” throw my “absolute favorite pair of jeans” in the trash.... and then I was standing there at my workbench, tinkering around, and boom—the idea just hit me...
I just love standing at the workbench without a set plan and just starting to work on something... 

Did you staple the fabric to the frame? 

I took... a wooden panel (the back of a cabinet or the inside of a drawer) and covered it with a sleeping pad, then stretched the fabric over it... I placed the picture frame on top and glued it in place from the back.... 

Sewn yesterday. 

I’ve been back at the sewing machine. This time, I made a little bag out of my old jeans.

Well, I’ve made some new pot holders from my stash of jeans.

These pot holders were sewn using the “quilt-as-you-go” method.

I’ve made something new out of old jeans again. The result: 3 coasters for sheep lovers

The top picture shows a pair of jeans that I once sewed and embroidered myself, but couldn't wear like that anymore. You can see what became of them in the bottom picture: a long skirt for cool days

You’re all so creative! All of your projects are really great and imaginative. I especially like Steffi’s picture frame. I think I once saw one like that used as gift wrapping for a youth initiation ceremony. All the pockets were filled with bills and little trinkets. It really made an impression.

Jeans are such a sturdy fabric, which is why I love sewing with them so much. But who knows—now that I’ve been inspired by your ideas, maybe I’ll try something with them after all.

The plan was to make a book cover to protect it while on the go...



With a pocket for a cell phone and tissues



Now it’s hanging on the kitchen cabinet as a storage basket.....



Upcycling—Old Jeans and a Pillowcase 

Great idea, Petra, 💡 💡 but that happens to me too—I sew something, and then it ends up being used in a completely different way than I originally intended 😀 😃 🙂
