UFOs 2023: Land Your UFOs Now = Finish Unfinished Craft Projects

Dear users, dear authors,
how are your UFOs coming along? Do you have many? Would you like to finish your UFOs = unfinished craft projects, or would you rather unravel them?

Josefa, it’s great that you’re reminding us about our UFOs again… Once the Christmas gifts are finished (that’s right, the ones for 2022—I just didn’t have enough time for them!), some UFOs will have to go… but then birthdays are right around the corner, and there’s still a baby gift waiting, not to mention the custom-order socks! But I’m doing my best and plan to stick with it—I really need to bring some order to this chaos!

yeah, those dear UFOs—there it is again, that unpleasant topic. For me, UFOs are always a sign of a lack of discipline or taking on too many projects at once, because you take on too much and then can’t manage it.
I haven’t added any new ones, but the number hasn’t gone down either.

With some of them, I’m still debating whether to unravel them or finish them—or repurpose them and turn them into something else. I’m still undecided.

For me, UFOs are simply unavoidable, since too many ideas are running through my head that “have to” be tried out. But I don’t feel good about it—yes, a lack of discipline plays a part, too. On the other hand, this means nothing half-hearted ever makes it to sale. 😉
Eventually, the urge hits me, and then I go through everything—unraveling, cutting up, or bringing it back out.

Have you finished any UFOs?

I finished something. It had been sitting around for a while, but now I’m happy that the loop is finally done.

It has 4 different crochet patterns. 






That was just a drop in the bucket… there are still so many hidden away around the house… 

Great. Are you writing a “Mustermix” pattern for this?

I started by writing. That’s why the loop sat around as a UFO for so long. Now it’s time to work on the color scheme, and if I find a nice, matching new yarn—definitely. 😊

Petra, your loop scarf turned out great! I’d like one like that, too—especially in those colors. How big is it?

Christina’s loop is about 146 cm long and 30 cm wide. I’m totally happy with it. 

In principle, I’d like to finish my UFOs, but I have a lace scarf lying around—I can’t find the pattern anymore. Thankfully, I’m still in the first third, so unraveling it won’t hurt as much.
The other two will be knitted to completion.
I’ve also been a good girl and finished two UFOs since the end of last year, but I’ve already given them away, and I didn’t take any pictures. One was a Double Loop—my dermatologist’s nice medical assistant is now enjoying it.

How many UFOs can you finish by the end of the week?

Since I have this post in my watchlist, I’ll show you a UFO that landed today. 

I suspect it was started in the summer of 2022. Finally finished today.
