Help with the pattern

Hi everyone, I’ve gotten to the point where I can crochet the stitches. However, I can’t seem to read the pattern properly :( and, unfortunately, I don’t really understand it either. I’d really appreciate some help. It’s an amigurumi bunny with pants. I’d be happy to show you an example of my pattern.

Thank you so much in advance for your help :)

What exactly don’t you understand about it?

Starting at step 3: Do I need to decrease after 6 sc?
In step 4: Do I need to work 2 sc, then the increase twice, and repeat the whole thing 6 times in a row?
I hope you understand what I mean ^^

On Round 4, you alternate between 2 sc and an increase, so you increase every 3rd stitch.

But what do you mean by point 3? There are no decreases in the third round yet.

Oh, I made a typo there, sorry :) I meant inc.
Do I need to do one single crochet and one increase in point 3?

And in points 5 and 9, the minus and plus signs are confusing me.
And does x3 or x6 mean every 3rd or 6th stitch?

Thank you so much for your help :)

Yes, Round 3 is always one single crochet and one increase, so an increase every other stitch.

Rounds 5 and 6 are crocheted as written—that is, both without increases or decreases.
The same goes for Round 9 through Round 13—a total of 5 rounds are crocheted without any changes.

The “x 3” means you have to repeat that step that many times. So, in Round 8, for example, you first crochet 6 sc, then 3 decreases, and then 6 sc again.

This is also called systematic increasing

1. 6 sc in MR
2. Inc in every stitch = 12
3. Inc in every 2nd stitch = 18
4. Inc in every 3rd stitch = 24
5. Inc in every 4th stitch = 30
6. Inc in every 5th stitch = 36
7. Inc in every 6th stitch = 42
8. Inc in every 7th stitch = 48
9. Inc in every 8th stitch = 54
10. Inc in every 9th stitch = 60

Etc., etc.
To make it round instead of a hexagon, you should stagger the increases.

This is how I shift the increases.

Round 8
6 sc, decrease 2 stitches together 3 times, 6 sc = 15

Round 14
(3 sc, dec) x3

You’re supposed to do what’s in the parentheses 3 times

@Birgit, you really put a lot of effort into this, wow.

@Helpyy,
hi and welcome here with us.
Please don’t copy pattern texts into your posts; that’s not allowed here. Is the pattern from here? If so, I can ask the relevant author for help if there are still any questions left.

Sorry about that—I didn’t realize it. It won’t happen again :)

Thanks for all the tips and answers; I’m slowly getting the hang of it :D

However, I’m now facing a new problem. For example

, if the pattern says “6 sc, dec 1,” but there’s a comma after that—like “8 sc, dec 1, 9 sc”—do I need to keep crocheting the 9 sc, and then insert a colored thread as a marker in between so I can start a new round?

8 sc, decrease 1 st, 9 sc.

It depends on whether the round ends after the 9 sc.
If it does, then you need to insert a thread.

You don’t necessarily have to pull this thread out after every round. Just lay it to the front and back. If you ever have to rip back, you’ll always know where the round ends or ended.

Best regards, Birgit

Here’s what I mean. When I finish a round, I bring the yarn to the front. When I finish the next round, I bring the yarn to the back.

That way, you can unravel it, round by round, if necessary.

My round is finished as soon as I’ve made the decreases, and then there’s a comma and “9 sc.” And I don’t understand that. Am I supposed to keep crocheting the remaining stitches—or the 9 stitches—after that?

The end of a round can’t be moved. Not by 9 sc.

You wrote that the round ends after the decrease. Then you should have the specified number of stitches: 60, 66, 72, or whatever was specified.
