Dear users and authors,
In Germany, the warning system—including text messages, sirens, loudspeakers, etc.—will be tested on Thursday. Hopefully, it will remain just a test.
Same here. We had the sirens, an announcement, and an unfamiliar sound from the phone, along with a message saying that it was only a test and there was no danger.
Here, it’s normal for the sirens to be tested every Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
Best regards, Marina
They do this here regularly too, but not as often—maybe two or three times a year. What was new today was that the alert appeared on my cell phone even outside the Nina app.
When I think back to the Ahr disaster, I’d have to get used to this. That’s because I turn my cell phone off completely at night, so I wouldn’t receive any alerts then, and once I’m asleep, I don’t hear sirens outside either—they’re not very close here, so they’re barely louder than an ambulance driving a few streets away.
Here, we have a test once a month on Saturday. But today—nothing! Silence! We live in a village. My cell phone is usually turned off, so I didn’t notice anything either.
My cell phone sent an alert, but we’re still waiting for the all-clear :-) And according to the information, that should have been audible too, but we didn’t hear a thing.
The sirens go off here a few times a year for test alarms as well.
