Dear users, dear authors,
we have subforums for crochet, knitting, and sewing, but none for embroidery and crafts.
So I’d like to hear your honest opinion on whether it’s worth it / whether you can imagine wanting to discuss these topics regularly. Right now, embroidery and craft topics end up under “General” or “Small Talk,” which isn’t ideal.
Is a separate subforum for felting worth it?
For knooking / Sträkeln, there somehow never seem to be enough people interested. Has interest in it also dropped sharply?
Is there not much interest in Tunisian crochet anymore either?
I think an embroidery forum would be great. Starting in 2023, I’d like to offer embroidery files too :). I’m currently running the first tests and making preparations!
In my opinion, a subforum for felting isn’t worth it. There aren’t that many active members who would participate in the forum.
On the other hand, I think the “Embroidery” and “Crafts” subforums would be more interesting. Many people here embroider and/or do crafts. Embroidery is a niche topic, but interest has already been expressed. As for crafts, I imagine it would be a good place to get inspiration.
Knooken and Tunisian crochet—in my opinion, too, posts about these techniques belong in the crochet forum. I wouldn’t create subforums for them.
That’s too bad, Inna—I would have liked the crafts forum. Of course, you make lots of beautiful paper crafts. But besides that, there are so many other craft topics we could discuss: beading, making jewelry, designing cards, weaving, working with concrete, crafting with kids… I can think of a thousand things. But I can’t fill a subforum all by myself. If there aren’t any other interested people who would contribute, then it’s not worth it. But it’s really a shame. I would have liked it. Maybe a few more people will chime in here.
A subforum alone isn’t enough—we also need to regularly create new threads on these topics. Ideally, these threads would be created by you and not just by me all the time.
So, as I see it right now, the crafts forum doesn’t seem like such a good idea.
I’d be up for the crafts section. 😁
I love trying new things—right now, paper and everything you can make with it are at the top of my list, whether it’s winter decorations or 3D figures....
I’d already messaged Inna “privately” because I wasn’t sure which glue to use....
I cut everything by hand—with scissors and a craft knife.... The machines are too expensive for me...
I’ve asked management and the technical development team to create two new subforums for embroidery and crafts, and the request was approved. As soon as the developers find the time, there will be two new subforums. But you can already start creating as many embroidery and craft threads as you’d like. I’ll move them to the appropriate subforums once they’re ready.
That’s what I call efficiency, Josefa—you announce something and then try to implement it as quickly and effectively as possible so that we can all enjoy things here. My heartfelt thanks for that—you’re doing a really great job for us here.
Yes, dear Josefa, you really do deserve this!
Always hardworking, always active—you’re always on top of things, listening to us, motivating us, picking up on topics, and filtering out the good ideas. You’re doing a great job! The forum has developed well and is a lot of fun. You can spend hours here passing the time, learning something, exchanging ideas, getting inspired, and staying informed. That’s all part of feeling at home on a lively online platform.
The new subforums are a great addition and offer everyone more space for creative expression. Thanks in advance to the developers who will implement this technically. I’ll wait to post “crafting topics” until the subforum is set up, though. Otherwise, they’ll get lost in the mix here.
The new subforums are ready. Thanks to the technical developers.
They’re still pretty empty right now, but I’ll be moving relevant topics there from time to time.
It would be great if you could create lots of topics in the new subforums.
Have fun,
