Footmuff / Foot Warmer

Dear users and authors,
what material do you recommend for a warm footmuff / foot warmer?

It’s hard to even think about that when it’s 34 degrees! :-))
But the ones you can buy ready-made usually have lambskin on the inside and leather on the outside, which is definitely pretty warm. If you’re using fabric or wool, you’d need to include a thick thermal layer—I’m not sure if simple batting would be enough. Chenille yarn would definitely make it nice and cozy.

Nope, Veronika, I have to disagree with you there—you can also sew very cozy, warm footmuffs or slippers yourself using untreated plush fabric. I did it last year too; my slippers are so warm that I usually have to take them off after about two hours because my feet get so hot in them ;-). However, I used real sheepskin plush—my husband gave me 4 meters of it for my birthday back then, so I sewed myself this warm housecoat and the matching slippers. I have a strong feeling that I’ll really appreciate having both this coming winter.

Yeah, I did say that—sheepskin on the inside is awesome. I was just looking for alternatives.
And yes, I also think that the topic of house robes is becoming a hot topic again.
