No, Josefa. I don’t really sew dresses for myself. I don’t dare try it—it has to fit just right. And for that, you’d need the right pattern in the right size (which is tricky for me, since I wear about a 32, 34, or 36) and the right fabric. That’s where my skills fall short.
Doll clothes are easier—it doesn’t have to fit perfectly; the dolls and their moms don’t care.
Denim shirts are indestructible, after all. My husband still has a light-colored denim shirt from the ’80s. It just won’t fall apart, no matter what. So he has no reason to get rid of it. And now it’s even coming back into style.
My little son used to have a denim jacket for the winter, too. It was lined with thick teddy bear plush. Of course, he wore jeans with it. Oh well, jeans probably never really go out of style.
I’ve never stopped wearing denim shirts either. They’re practical and comfortable. I have several in my closet, and yes, they’re great as a substitute for a jacket.
Best regards, Marita
I didn’t even know they’d ever gone out of style?
Sure, the “wash” of the denim depends on current trends, but out of style in general?
I always have denim shirts in my closet. Usually medium to dark blue (light blue denim or denim with a lot of white in it has always given me the creeps). Two old ones that I always use as cover-ups when painting, wallpapering, etc., and two or three in different lengths that I also wear normally.
BUT: never a denim shirt with jeans! Yuck :-) Ugh :-)
That usually doesn’t look good—way too much denim all at once (very late ’70s/’80s style).
