Incomprehensible crochet pattern

How does this work??

I'm really desperate, and no one has been able to help me so far.

You crochet in Round 10:

1 slip stitch, then 2 chain stitches (= 1 ch + 1 turning ch) and 1 slip stitch into the chain stitch.
Then crochet 2 slip stitches into 1 stitch. 

Next, crochet 3 ch and crochet 2 slip stitches into them.  Then crochet 2 slip stitches into 1 stitch again. 

Next, crochet 4 ch and 3 slip stitches into them, then crochet 2 slip stitches into 1 stitch again.

Then 5 ch and 4 slip stitches into them, then crochet 2 slip stitches into 1 stitch again. And so on. 

This creates increasingly larger points. 
Once you’ve reached 9 ch and 8 slip stitches into them, followed by 2 slip stitches into 1 stitch, next make 8 ch and 7 slip stitches into the chain stitches, then 2 slip stitches into 1 stitch again, 

then 7 ch and 6 slip stitches into the ch, and then 2 slip stitches into 1 stitch, and so on. 

(Now the points get smaller again.)

Yes, thank you very much, but I still don’t quite understand what “crochet onto it” means—that is, how exactly
I’m supposed to attach them.

Since Ruth has now replied with a detailed explanation, I’ve removed the copied pattern text from the first post. Copying pattern texts is not okay and is not allowed here either.
I would recommend contacting the author of the pattern. If it is a pattern from Crazypatterns, I could do that for you, but that is only possible for patterns from Crazypatterns.

"Crochet onto it" means that you crochet the slip stitches onto the chain stitches you just made (and not onto the single crochets from the previous round).

In the picture above, I’ve crocheted 3 ch (= 2 ch + 1 turning ch). Where the arrows point, you now work 1 sl st in each.
It will look like this:
