Dear users, dear authors,
How do you sew a lapel? Can anyone share some tips? What exactly is a lapel, anyway?

A lapel is the front collar opening on a blazer, jacket, or coat
here I have a WIP from a blazer showing how to sew a lapel; I sewed this blazer for myself 14 years ago for my youngest daughter's wedding.
First the collar has to be sewn, i.e., the collar stand to the collar, and then it has to be adjusted to the jacket and the lapel
here you can see me wearing the blazer once it was finished; besides the skirt, there were also trousers to go with the blazer
