Dear users, dear authors,
Are you in the Christmas spirit, or not (yet)?

Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 1:04 PM
Absolutely not. There’s no snow, and I’m missing spending time with my family.

Love, Gabi

I feel the same way. Now I’m forced to keep my distance from my oldest daughter again, because there have been more COVID-19 cases at my son-in-law’s workplace, and until I’m sure he won’t bring anything home, I’m staying away. Something like that really puts a damper on the mood. The tests have been negative so far, but better safe than sorry ;-)

Love, Inge

My second stollen is going in the oven later.

The house is decorated for Christmas, and Christmas music is playing in the background

I’m knitting a Christmas gift...

But I’m definitely in the Christmas spirit.

There’s not much Christmas spirit this year, even though it smells like cookies. It’s just that the Christmas markets and so much more are missing...

It’s so-so...

The Christmas stress is slowly setting in—only 9 days left and almost no presents ready—wuaaaah!

Other than that... Yeah, I don’t know. For the past few years, the run-up to Christmas has just kind of passed me by anyway :)

Oh, yes. Gloomy days, a little light here and there, candles, decorations—everything nice and cozy.... So kind of wintry and Christmassy, more of a deeply relaxed, peaceful mood—not necessarily festive or celebratory.

I bought the sweets for the Christmas treat plates today. Unfortunately, there are only two, for my husband and me. They’ll be under the tree on Christmas Eve. We haven’t had gifts in our family for a long time now.
When a family member passes away, it’s hard to find a new way to celebrate Christmas. I think that takes time.
But I’m also kind of glad that the stress I used to have before Christmas is gone. Now the only question left is what we’ll cook for ourselves on Christmas Eve and on the other holidays. Opinions are still divided on that, but it’ll work out.

We do have a few Christmas decorations and we’re going to get a Christmas tree, but we won’t really be getting into the Christmas spirit this year. My father-in-law passed away a few days ago. Even though it was a relief for him, it’s still going to be a very sad Christmas for us :-(

Here in Main-Franconia, it’s been up to 8°C the last two days, so purely weather-wise, when it’s just pouring and drizzling, there’s not much Christmas spirit to be felt.

Best regards, Inge

Oh Petra, my deepest condolences. That’s so sad. Right before Christmas, too.
Someone also passed away the day before yesterday at the nursing home on our ward. He was such a sweet person, but when the heart just stops beating, that’s just how it is.

I’m only getting a little bit into the Christmas spirit because I put up some decorations—I need colorful lights. Other than that, I’m not doing much.
We don’t have a Christmas tree either. Never mind. The whole situation with “C.....a” has kind of taken away our joy for the holidays. We’re not allowed to do anything; everything’s been canceled.

At least there’s one small consolation—and I’m already looking forward to it—my kids want to come for Christmas and stay for three days. My brother wants to come too, but he’ll be staying at my parents’ house; otherwise, we’d be a bit cramped for space.

I ordered one of those mystery games—it’s sure to make for a fun Christmas Eve/game night.
I still have to bake some cookies, and as for dinner, I haven’t figured that out yet.

I wish you all a peaceful holiday season anyway—just make the best of it. Otherwise, buy some mulled wine and arm yourselves with knitting and crochet hooks and yarn.

Yours, Andrea

I just baked another small batch of cookies (vanilla crescents) a little while ago—but I’m missing my big stove to really get into the Christmas spirit.
I do have it, but there’s no electrician to hook it up.

Some snow would be nice, too.
Well, there are still a few days left. Maybe a few snowflakes will fall.

We baked another batch of Elisenlebkuchen, about 80 pieces, because the first ones have already been eaten, but we’re not really feeling much Christmas spirit here either

Best regards, Inge
