Cozy house coat...

It's done—man, was that a lot of work getting it finished, because it got really
heavy under the sewing machine. I sewed the jersey and the plush fabric together by hand;
it took me the whole Sunday, but it was worth it. I can
wear the coat this way or with the jersey on the inside—I sewed

it as a reversible coat. Love, Inge

what a project!! You definitely won’t be cold anymore, and with energy prices the way they are, this cozy coat is sustainable, too.
But to sew something like this, you really have to be a master at the sewing machine.

I can imagine your sewing machine had a hard time handling something so thick. It looks so warm—just right for the coming season. And you finished it so quickly, even though you had to do a lot of hand-sewing.

Dear Inge,

You’re a pro at the sewing machine. The rest of us have to buy everything, and then it usually doesn’t turn out the way we want it to. We have to settle for compromises. Thanks to your skills, you can make everything to exact measurements and choose your favorite fabrics.

Your house coat and slippers look simply wonderfully soft, warm, and cozy. They’ll definitely help you get through the winter comfortably. Your whole family will probably be coming soon, wanting you to sew them “carefree winter sets” like these, too.

@Ina, all three of my daughters can sew—the oldest is a ladies’ dressmaker like me—and they’re all welcome to have the pattern from me :-) ;-), because I only sew for my grandchildren these days.
