Gaiters

I sewed myself leggings to go with my sweatshirt dress, and a matching bag too, and yesterday I wanted to
buy myself a pair of chic ankle boots, BUT no way, no such luck. Unfortunately I can’t get into
ankle boots anymore; my ankles have become too stiff, and I can’t
get my foot around the bend inside anymore. Boy, was I frustrated, because my
low shoes don’t look that great with it. Yesterday evening a friend gave me
the tip about gaiters. Great, I thought, that’s a good
and wonderful alternative, so I sewed myself some today. Best, Inge

They’re great....
Oh Inge, if only I could sew even remotely as well as you....
....or if you lived “just around the corner,” I’d definitely ask you whether you could alter my “gothic dress.” I was able to buy it from a theater costume stock 😍 and it could really use a “makeover”; I did what I could with a needle and thread by hand.... but everything 🤔 like a proper hem....
I’d trust you with that 👍

@ Steffi, I’d pass the dress on to my daughter, because she learned how to work with dresses like that. She learned the women’s tailoring trade from nuns, and the girls were taught many things there that I never learned, since I’m an industrial seamstress. She once sewed a medieval-style wedding dress for an acquaintance, with a long pointed hood at the back instead of a veil, a dream, I’m telling you. We always say I’m responsible for the *coarse work* and she’s for the *fine motor skills*, so the two of us complement each other very well

Love, Inge

...you see, with you it would be in good hands because you also make it very clear that you’d pass it on....
My problem here is quite simply that I don’t know who “can do it” or who’s just pretending....
Years ago, I took a pair of very expensive pants to a seamstress to have them “taken in”.... She measured them and pinned where to take in the leg..... In the end, I ended up with two completely different leg widths, and the pants didn’t fit at all anymore… uneven seams… I could have done that myself…
And I don’t think you’re only “in charge” of the rough stuff. You make such beautiful things… 😍
