Crocheting with leftover yarn

I’m always crocheting nests for wild animals.



I finished another one today. I used up a lot of yarn scraps. I usually work with 3 strands. As I crochet, I remember what I’ve already made with them. Here I’ll show you the nest and my projects made with the main yarn.

The turquoise yarn became a scarf



The mint green became a bonnet for a newborn





I used this yarn for the bottom part. It became a baby gift

For me, it’s nice to look back on everything I’ve already made—who I gave it to, and just how much I loved that yarn back then. 

Wow, what a beautiful nest, Petra! I feel the same way when I crochet nests—even with 3 strands—and I usually still remember what I used the yarn for. I’ll have another one finished tomorrow, too.

What happens to the nests? 

When I have a full package, it gets sent off. There are wildlife carers and wildlife rescue centers for injured birds, rabbits, hedgehogs, etc.

Things are sewn and crocheted for these animals. They need them for recovery.

  I’ve been involved since last year, when I took part in helping the wildlife in Australia. From time to time I crochet or sew when time allows. 

I’ve also used up my various leftover yarn here. 

Your bunny looks so cute. Are those all granny squares? 

I’d like to show you here what you can make from just a few leftovers. Fall is just around the corner, and Halloween isn’t too far off either—maybe you’ll like my little ghosts.
