Hail

It just started. This is what it looks like here right now. The sun was still shining a little while ago. 

Hi Andrea, we had that yesterday. Today the sun is shining here.

Oh—that’s not nice at all. Another reason to cozy up indoors with some crafts. We had hail the other day—alternating with sunshine—typical April weather. But spring is definitely on its way! Even to Norway :-)

It changes like this all the time here.
Spring is still a long way off. The forsythias haven’t even bloomed here yet; in Germany, they’ve long since finished blooming. It’s just too cold.

That’s nothing yet. This morning I thought I was going to have a heart attack! It was snowing in big flakes, and there was a 10 cm layer of snow everywhere. All the branches were thickly covered with snow, too. The second photo shows our blooming(!) nectarine tree. I hope it keeps its blossoms, because it’s going to freeze again the next few nights.

Oh my goodness, Monika, yes, there’s really no comparison.
I just hope your pretty mandarin tree survives this.
A mandarin tree sounds interesting. Did you grow it yourselves, buy it, or how should I picture it? Trees like that are pretty rare in gardens, after all. I certainly like eating them.

The weather is going crazy everywhere right now.

Andrea, that’s a nectarine tree (not a mandarin tree—I don’t think those would grow here). Last year we had lots of little nectarines that tasted really delicious and had a rich flavor. Unfortunately, it’s very sensitive to frost when it’s in bloom. Let’s see if it works out.

It’s snowing again today, but luckily the deep snow is gone. Now our appointment to install the skylights has had to be rescheduled again—it’s too cold and too wet. Let’s hope it works out next week.

Oh, I misread that, Monika. All right.
My parents used to grow them in their garden, too—they tasted delicious. But due to their age, they gave up their garden—or rather, sold it—a long time ago.
