Reviewing patterns: how it’s done

Dear users, dear authors,
it’s great that you come online regularly and buy patterns or use the free download. Could you please also make sure to review the patterns regularly and leave feedback / comments for the authors? The authors appreciate feedback, and the quality of the patterns is improved.

Please feel free to be honest and write down what you liked and also what you didn’t like. If there are problems when working from the pattern, please contact the respective author directly via the PM function in their shop and let them help you. That’s part of the service here. You can also ask general questions in the forum.

It would be nice if, instead of leaving a comment along the lines of "haven’t made it yet" / "haven’t had time to make it yet" / "not finished yet," you would first finish the handmade project and only then leave a review. If there are any problems, please contact the author directly by PM.

Using the gallery
If you would like to show your own creations, you can do that in the gallery and receive nice feedback there as well.

@Users / authors,
what problems / wishes do you currently have regarding reviews? Can you write down what comes to mind so I can add to this post if needed?

It would be great if reviews focused on the quality of the pattern. For example:
1. Does the pattern have a structured layout?
2. Is it easy to understand?
3. Is it suitable for beginners, if that was specified?
4. Are crochet or knitting charts included?
5. Is the pattern sufficiently illustrated?
6. Are there contact details for contacting the designer with questions?
7. If there was contact, was it helpful / was there a timely response / was it friendly?
8. Are all material details provided, including any size or measurement charts?

Of course, these are just examples of points you could address in a review and that can help other buyers make their purchasing decision.

I’m bumping this up again....

Unfortunately, many people still write things like: “I haven’t crocheted it yet,” “this will be my next project,” or “My
result doesn’t look like the pictures”—which says absolutely nothing about the quality of the patterns.
I posted the review campaign in my Facebook group and just explained what the reviews are all about (I also posted this link). I hope that many people will think about what they’re actually writing there.
