Winter is coming

Here's a little preview—there's sure to be more to come. Yes, it snowed a little.


There’s something cozy about it, but it’s way too early. (Well, maybe not in Norway...)

Oh Andrea, feel free to keep the snow. I don’t need it here anytime soon. In the second picture, you can see both fall and winter at the same time. The yellow leaves are still on the tree, but winter is already creeping into the picture. Not the kind of weather for a walk—more for staying indoors and enjoying some nice handicrafts.

Oh, really? Is that good for Norway, or is it a little too early?

It was 2.5 degrees this morning. That gets me all excited, because the turtles aren’t hibernating yet. During the day we have sunshine (we’re going for a walk later and will enjoy it), and that’s when they all come out to warm up a bit. 

It’s nasty out there today. For Norway, it’s normal for it to start as early as October.
I don’t really need snow just yet. But when the sun is shining and the white snow glistens so beautifully, then I like it.

I’d rather sit on my sofa and keep crocheting with my leftover yarn.

Enjoy the rest of your fall—sometimes I envy you guys with those temperatures. Oh well.

25 years ago we were in Seiffen in the Ore Mountains, and there was snow there too.
A very long time ago.
In Baden-Württemberg, you have to look hard to find snow.

What a huge difference! It’s almost spring-like here, though only for a few hours a day. We just went for a walk in beautiful sunshine and a temperature of 15 degrees. Tomorrow it’ll be even warmer. At times like this, I’m really glad to live in southern Germany. I’m not quite ready for winter yet, even though it’s currently 3 degrees at night. That’s why our hedgehogs go out to eat during the day. We just saw him munching again a little while ago—though this time he was inside his little house.

It hasn’t snowed this early in Mainfranken before; I’ve seen snow here in late November, but not in mid-October. It was only 1°+ here at 8 a.m. this morning, and now it’s 12°+.

Oh wow.
Here in the Black Forest, we’re still having absolutely beautiful weather.
Everything is colorful and sunny.
I really hope it stays this way until next week so we can take some nice fall photos with Leo :) 

A real winter—even during the right months—feels like it’s been forever.

Do you remember the freezing rain in 1978–79? And the chaos that followed.
Then, back in the ’80s, it got so cold that the gearshift in my car at the time froze up.

For decades now, it’s seemed to me like the weather’s been getting crazier.

I’ve already had snow twice this fall—just a little, but it’s a start. Luckily, it’s gone again.
For everyone looking forward to snow (or not): the snow is still wet, cold, and white 😋😋😋
