Handkerchief case

Does anyone else remember these tissue holders?
A school friend of mine from back then crocheted this one for me. It’s been around for 40 years now. I keep my treasures in it, like those Chinese handkerchiefs that used to be available—the ones with such delicate embroidery.

Something like that with pom-poms on top—my mother had one for her silk stockings.

I still have some handkerchiefs from China and the GDR somewhere. Most of them were lost during all the moves.
