Sewing skorts

In case anyone isn't familiar with the term, it's a cross between shorts and a skirt—I didn't know what it was either, so I had to look it up.
It shouldn't be too hard to make, right?

Hi, I would sew the shorts and the skirt separately, without the waistband.
Place the shorts inside the skirt, pin the waistband to the shorts/skirt, and then sew the waistband on like that.

The things people come up with. Why not just wear shorts and skip the skirt altogether?
Do you guys remember that awful fashion trend from 15 years ago when it was “in” to wear long pants with a much shorter skirt over them? Personally, just for myself, I don’t think that’s a good look. Personally, just for myself, I’d wear either pants or a skirt, but not both at the same time. It looks like, “You probably couldn’t decide what to wear, so you just put everything on,” not to mention that it makes your hips look wider when you wear both on top of each other.

I also think this trend of wearing a dress or skirt over leggings is a bit odd, but not quite as bad as a skirt over pants. Leggings are, by nature, form-fitting and therefore almost like tights without feet. The skirt or dress can then gently flatter any extra weight around the hips, if there is any. ;)

Even though I’d love to be a trend scout, I just don’t get a lot of trends at all. So much for a big career in the trend scouting business. Oh well. :)
