Gradient vest — how does it work with yarn cakes?

Hi everyone,

I’d really love to crochet a gradient vest. They look really great.

But how can I use the yarn cakes so that I get a nice gradient?
I still have two yarn cakes at home, but I don’t know how to arrange them to create
a nice gradient.

I crocheted a top-down raglan cardigan.
For the sleeves, I set aside some of the gradient cake and divided it in half. 
To do that, I unwound it up to the next knot, cut it, and weighed out half for each sleeve. 
It’s easier with sleeve cakes. 

I meant to say “branched off.” 

You could unwind half of each color… A crafting friend once told me that—she also likes to make my patterns using her own Bobbels… It might be a bit tedious, but the results have always been good
