I bought the knitting pattern for
the "Lucca" children's sweater (760013)
and have made good progress, but now I'm having a problem with the pattern. Maybe someone can help me. The sleeves and the front and back are first knitted separately in a basic pattern that includes right-side and wrong-side rows. The rest of the instructions are as follows:
Round yoke: Using a 3.0–4.0 mm circular needle, pick
up the held
stitches from the front piece, the first sleeve, the
back piece, and the second sleeve one after another = 232 (252/264/292) sts total.
Now continue in sand, working in rounds
in the following arrangement, knitting together the corresponding edge sts: knit the edge sts of the second sleeve and the front piece together, 3 sts
in ribbing (= start with 1 purl st),
59 (65/69/77) sts in basic pattern, 7 sts in ribbing (= begin with 1 purl st and
for the center st, knit the edge sts together),
41 (45/47/53) sts in basic pattern, 7 sts in ribbing (= begin with 1 purl st and
for the center st, knit the edge sts together),
59 (65/69/77) sts in basic pattern, 7 sts in ribbing (= start with 1 purl st and
for the center st, knit the edge sts together),
41 (43/45/51) sts in basic pattern, 3 sts in ribbing.
No matter how many times I read this, I always get the impression that all four sections must be completely joined in the round. But since there’s supposed to be an open section with buttons on one side, and since the basic pattern can only be worked in different right-side and wrong-side rows, I’m at a loss. Do I always have to knit a complete round here, or do I continue back and forth?
I’d appreciate some advice.
