I just have a question:
Are there any patterns in "symbol notation"—you know, where you can follow the symbols for the corresponding stitches, like in knitting or crochet magazines?
I find that easier to read...

welcome to our forum and site.
What you mean is, for example, a crochet chart. The pros will surely post here in the thread what it’s called in knitting.

If my knitting patterns say “Chart,” then I’ve used what you call “symbol notation.” I think other designers use this visual representation of the pattern as well. If nothing is mentioned, just ask.
