what is Occhi and what can you do with it?

Occhi, also spelled Occi, is a type of needlework done with very fine thread and so-called “shuttles.” Occhi is the Italian word for “eye.”
In English, this technique is called “tatting,” and in French, “frivolité.”
First, you work with a support ring, onto which various knots, picots, and so on are made using the two shuttles (you can also use three or more shuttles).
Little by little, this creates very delicate lacework.
Occhi was a form of needlework that was primarily practiced in the 19th century by ladies of “high society.” The finished pieces generally had no practical use but served purely as decoration.
I myself made some small items using this technique a few years ago. It’s perfect for creating small doilies or pretty gifts, such as bookmarks.
