Dear users, dear authors,
how do you handle Christmas?
Everything at the last minute, or do you prefer to be well organized?
Let me know.

Hi,

since we’re heading to the mountains on December 22, things won’t be as tightly organized.

Back home, everything was always well organized, since I had a
full house all three days.

On Christmas Eve, we’ll attend the children’s Mass and go for a nice
walk. After that? We’ll see how things go.

We don’t have anything planned for the two days of Christmas; we’ll
decide what to do based on the weather and how we feel.

Oh, I’m already so looking forward to our vacation.

Best regards, Heike

We won’t buy the kids’ gifts until two weeks before Christmas Eve, since their wish lists are constantly changing right now (they both have way too much stuff, and our daughter just had her birthday)
We haven’t made any plans for Christmas Eve yet; the 25th is my mother-in-law’s birthday, so that day is reserved for her, and the 26th… ???

Christmas will be kept rather small this year when it comes to gifts^^ ..... since I've now organized a shared-apartment room for my little daughter (her training location is simply too far away), she'll still need quite a few things there.

So the youngest will be the one getting a bit spoiled - the two girls are getting the shared-apartment room this year, and the second older one is getting new shelving furniture.... the rest stays the same as always: good food, decorating the Christmas tree with Junior, etc.

The 25th and 26th will be QUIET - no visitors and no fuss

I couldn’t handle doing everything at the last minute—that would make me way too nervous beforehand. I always try to start my preparations early so I have as little stress as possible during the holidays.
So I decorate the tree 1–2 days in advance and buy gifts and non-perishable food well ahead of time. In any case, everything is taken care of by December 23 at the latest. On the 24th, I don’t do anything—not even go shopping. (Not even this year, when the holidays fall at an inconvenient time. I’d rather freeze bread and other items.) On Christmas Eve, we have a traditional herring salad, which I make on the 23rd.
That way, we can enjoy the holidays in a really relaxed way.
