Magnetic Closures on Crochet Bags—Need Help

I have a question—does anyone have any good tips on the best way to attach magnetic closures to crochet bags?
Since I just used a magnetic clasp for the first time on the crochet bag I finished, I noticed that you can actually see one of the metal parts from the outside (where you bend it together). For now, I sewed a crocheted circle over that spot, because you can also get caught on it if it isn’t bent together properly.
Does anyone have another tip? I’m open to suggestions.

I once made a bag with a magnetic clasp.

For the magnetic clasp on the bag flap, I crocheted a rectangle
out of sturdy cotton and attached the magnetic clasp to it.
I then sewed or
crocheted this rectangle onto the inside of the bag flap.

Another thing that works really well is to simply sew a slightly larger button onto it. That’s what I did on one of my bags. Or you could just crochet a pretty flower and sew it on as an appliqué. But I also think Heike’s idea is good, and I’ll give it a try soon.
