How my poncho turned into a blanket....

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a little story with you that might make you smile:

Last year, I wanted to crochet myself a great, warm poncho.
I quickly found and bought the pattern, and the yarn, too.

By early December, my poncho had turned into an UFO. I dug
it out again the week before last and finished crocheting the poncho.

The yarn was very thick, though, and I used a total of 1200 gr.
I put the poncho on, and it looked absolutely terrible—
way too heavy and way too big, grrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh—even though I’d
tried it on several times before.

So what to do?????
I didn’t want to go through the process of unraveling it just to have it sit in the closet;
it was too much work.

I went back and forth about it.....

Then I crocheted a granny square, sewed it into the neck opening, and
my blanket was done.

It definitely keeps me warm.

Love, Heike

I’m also really looking forward to seeing the photo...
It’s a brilliant idea, though—maybe I can use that for my own failed jacket
(a beginner’s pattern, also far too big and bulky)...

The blanket is 1.45 m long.

That looks really good. But take it easy on your arm for a bit now.

Hi,

thank you all so much.

To think that it used to be a poncho ;-)

Beautiful blanket with great colors. I would have been so frustrated and would have unraveled it right away.
Enjoy your masterpiece!

I admire that, after you realized it wasn’t going to work, you came up with a new solution that also looks very cozy.

I think I would have just put that thing in the closet, and it would have sat there gathering dust.....
