Emmy’s sewing pattern for a dog comfort blanket based on her own design seems a bit strange to me. The description is very sparse, and the sewing pattern
is drawn very professionally. Here’s the link:
Hello Jolanda, that really does look strange. I also looked at the pattern and am surprised that the sewing pattern isn’t in the original, but was scanned in CROOKED .
Best regards from mucke
I’m in favor of moving this thread to the Authors section because—despite CP’s quick response—it doesn’t make a good impression on customers.
If no one has any objections, I’ll do that this afternoon or evening. As a mod, I’d prefer it if such matters were discussed only in the internal Authors forum.
Unfortunately, every now and then I see patterns on CP that I think have been “stolen.” The unfortunate thing is that
it’s not always as easy to prove as it is in this case.
CP reviews the patterns before they go online, and I’d appreciate it if they
took a closer look before approving them. This isn’t just about
CP’s reputation—it’s clearly a matter of legal violations.
I recently caught a so-called “designer” who copied
my texts word for word and published them in her shop. I pointed out to her that this isn’t
allowed, and then she became rude and insolent. It wasn’t until I threatened legal action that she finally removed the
texts.
I think we should ALL take a closer look and expose such wrongdoing.
I also recently read in a review that the purchased pattern is just a very poor translation of an English pattern.
Perhaps statements like that should set off alarm bells.
I can’t judge whether the pattern was stolen or not. But if that’s the case, or if there’s a truly justified suspicion, not only should that pattern be deleted, but all the others as well, and the seller should be banned. Just my humble opinion ; 0)
Wow, that’s really brazen.
Especially in Osaki’s link, they didn’t even crochet it themselves; they just took a photo of the book! :D
They’re not even trying to sell it as their own pattern.
I think it’s good that the thread was moved back to the public section,
because this topic concerns us all. And if we all keep our eyes open
a little, we can put a stop to this kind of activity.
In the plotter community, people keep a very close eye on this and react immediately if someone
posts someone else’s files as their own in the forum.
