Hi everyone,
I really need your help and advice.
I finally received my safety eyes, but I can’t get the pin through the plastic disc :-(
Do you have any tips, or am I just too clumsy?
Thanks so much for your help

It takes a little bit of force.
A lot of people get their husband or boyfriend to help with a pair of pliers.
As far as I know, there’s also a special tool for this.
But since I haven’t worked with one yet, I’m afraid I can’t give you any specific advice.

I use an old book as a base. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without it.
Then you just have to press HARD.

Wow, I did it :-)))
WITH SOME FORCE is definitely the right expression for it ;-) It works really well with a hard surface and using both thumbs.
Thank you so much for your quick help!
Best wishes

That’s all well and good. But how do I get the eyes? And how much do they cost?

I bought the safety eyes from Dawanda. Check this out:

You can also buy a small assortment of different sizes there.

I have a tool to help with this, and I always order my safety eyes from erdbeerisandmore.de—that’s where I got the tool, too.
Well, it’s still tough even with this tool, but it’s better than without it.

Many people also use two washers to help. Maybe you have some in your toolbox and can try to see if that makes it easier.

Hi,

I always order from cute crochet bear on Dawanda - you can get pretty much everything you need there, including custom-made packages.

And if the eyes aren't cooperating, try placing the disc on at an angle and then pressing it down alternately on the right and left.

I had a hard time with the first ones too, but once you've done it a few times, you'll be able to do it in your sleep.

Best wishes,

Sandra

I’m desperately looking for a tool to attach safety eyes. Does anyone know where I can get one? Best regards, Silvia

I’m constantly struggling with these safety eyes, too. They’re often really hard to work with because of these new plastic discs. The older version of the safety eyes with the metal disc went in easily without any help. Unfortunately, you can hardly find those anymore.
Here in Norway, we have 5-krone coins with a hole in the middle—I always use those to attach the eyes. It takes some force, but it works.
They fit right in the center, but I should mention that I often use smaller eyes (5–7 mm) for amigurumi.

Otherwise, I think you can find a mounting tool like this in craft stores or at Buttinette, OPIC—I’m not sure. They’re pretty expensive, too, I think.
