Crafting for Advent and Christmas

Do you have any projects in the works?

Dear Josefa, everything is in the works. I just made plans to do some Christmas crafts with my grandchildren at the end of November. I always have to come up with something that’s suitable for a 7-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl. In any case, we’ll make sure to get cozy while we craft—that’s part of the fun.

Since just crafting isn’t always enough, we’ll also be baking cookies. I’ll prepare the cookie dough ahead of time so it’s “ready to cut out” in the fridge.

I still have some templates here for making paper light houses—we’ll see if I can manage it this year; I’m definitely more skilled with yarn than with paper.

I hate crafts 😆—and I’m so glad my kids are past that age! My daughter, in particular, always wanted to do crafts… we really did a lot of them, mostly with paper (origami, etc.), clay, or even beads. Some of these crafts get to decorate the house every year—for example, the big paper stars during Advent and the Christmas tree ornaments at Christmas.

I much prefer knitting now… it’s very meditative, and you don’t have to keep putting things away and taking them out again. 😅

Anyone else feel the same way?

I bought some glitter yarn in rose and silver today.
I’m not sure exactly what I’ll make with it yet—but it’ll definitely be something decorative.
