Hardworking little helpers: Have you tried out a new technique?

Dear Community,
What are you working on today—in real life and in your yarn life? Have you tried anything new?

In real life, it’s just the usual routine—nothing special. In my knitting life, I’m currently knitting a walrus in a striped sweater. So, technically, I haven’t tried anything new, but I did put a great tip into practice. Since knitted stuffed animals are harder for me to stuff—because I knit much more loosely than I crochet—I used a pair of sheer tights as a lining for the stuffing. What a brilliant idea!

In my everyday life, things are a bit chaotic right now—I took a really silly fall in my sewing room on Monday afternoon and bruised my left shoulder, so I can’t knit anything at the moment. Thank goodness I’d finished the overalls beforehand. I tried knitting a few rows on my jacket today, but gave up after half a row—it was too strenuous. Everything will have to wait until I’m back on my feet.

Everything’s going as usual for me. Today marks my 69th day of bliss (yes, I’m counting the days since I retired), and I’m always busy.

  I’ve finished my embroidery, but I’m not quite sure what to do with it next. For now, it’s just lying on the floor to see if it wins me over. 



Then yesterday I sewed a little pumpkin. At first, it was supposed to be a coaster, but now I’m thinking it might become an autumn-themed table runner. I got the table runner at the charity shop for 1 euro—it’s a nice, coarse fabric with gorgeous lace around the edge. 





All the hedgehog shelters are now finished too and waiting to be picked up for the hedgehog rescue center. There are 13 of them in total this time. 



Today, the sun is finally shining here again after a long time—so this afternoon I’ll tidy up the garden a bit and get it ready for winter. 

Yesterday I crocheted two mini pot holders specifically for the microwave—you can slip them over your fingertips or a mug handle. Of course, they also work for pot (and lid) handles. Today I dug out the doll blanket again—it was actually supposed to be my first project after a 40-year break from crafts. Vertical stripes using 7 balls of yarn.
On a personal note, I’m currently getting used to a new lens.
