Fixing Crochet Mistakes: Tips and Tricks

What are common crochet mistakes, and how can you fix them without having to unravel everything? Do you unravel more often when knitting than when crocheting? Let me know what you think. 

Is it possible to avoid unraveling when crocheting?

When knitting, I can usually salvage most of it by letting the stitches drop and picking them back up with the crochet hook.

I’m curious to see how that works with crocheting. So far, I’ve always had to unravel 😱🤔

When crocheting, the only option if you don’t want to rip it out: just overlook the mistake 😏

Depending on your taste, you could attach a crocheted appliqué or a brooch over the mistake.

Otherwise, when it comes to crochet mistakes, I only know how to rip it out.

However, I do have a trick for when I’ve chained too few stitches in the starting chain.
In that case, I use the remaining starting yarn to crochet the missing stitches (if there are only 2 or 3 missing chain stitches).

That’s a good idea—I’ll have to remember that.

If I have too many chain stitches, I can just unravel them or hide them when sewing them in. But if I have too few, I’ve always ended up unraveling everything and crocheting my foundation chain all over again.
