Crocheting on Vacation: Best Projects for Travel

Dear users, dear authors,
How do you handle your crochet or other craft projects when you’re on the go? What’s the maximum size your project and supplies can be? Do you find enough quiet time to work on your projects while traveling?

When we go on vacation, we always bring an extra bag with yarn and hooks. (If we’re flying, we’d rather leave a pair of pants at home than the yarn.) 

I like to have a selection with me, since I often don’t know in advance what I’ll make with the yarn, what idea will come to mind, or which pattern I’ll feel like working on.

I also always have several projects started that I might want to finish while on vacation. If we go on a day trip, I keep a small project in my purse. That way, I can sit down in a nice spot while the others run back and forth like crazy at the amusement park or have to wait in line for 30 minutes. That puts the ride enthusiasts at ease, because they know “Grandma” is happily occupied. 

For me, needlework is part of vacation.
