Knitting in the Round

Dear users, dear authors,
How does knitting in the round work, and what can you make with it?

When knitting in the round, you continue knitting from the beginning after the end of the row instead of working a wrong side row.

You can knit cords, socks, wrist warmers, sweaters, gloves, hats, scarves, etc. in rounds.

You can knit in the round using a set of double-pointed needles or a circular needle.
Clothes knitted in the round don’t need to be sewn together. 😉

You can also knit jackets in the round using a steek (these are stitches that are cut open at the end, and a button placket is knitted there).

How do you prevent those steek stitches from unraveling?

These steek stitches are extra stitches in the middle. You can sew over them with a sewing machine or secure the stitches using a crochet method. After cutting through them, they are folded over, and the stitches for the button placket are picked up.

Man, just looking at this gives me the chills! If you cut it wrong, all your work goes down the drain. I’d never dare try that!

It does take some effort.
But the result won me over, and knitting the dinosaur pattern in the round was a relief.
