Sewing Classes: Any Experiences?

Do you have any experience with sewing classes? Did they help you improve your sewing skills?

Yes, definitely. I took one many, many years ago, since the skills I’d picked up in sewing class at school were pretty limited.
In the sewing class, I bravely tried my hand at all sorts of things because the support there was excellent, and I was able to sew quite a few nice pieces of clothing for myself. The biggest advantage, of course, is that you get to choose your own project and sew something you’re really looking forward to—that makes a big difference.

Yes. When I was about 15, I took a sewing class (at the adult education center) with a friend on how to sew skirts. We learned quite a bit there.
Much later, I took a lingerie sewing class. That was very informative. It’s really great to be able to tailor your sewing to your own proportions. 

Did you take that lingerie course with Ela at Claros-design? Because her courses were really TOP when it came to lingerie—in one of her classes, I learned how to sew a bra and everything that goes into making one; it’s really amazing.
Back in the ’70s, I took a sewing class because I wanted to learn how to sew in a zipper, and I sewed a skirt back then, too. I didn’t complete my apprenticeship as a women’s clothing tailor until the mid-to-late ’80s—by then I was already in my mid-30s :-)
